Ideas For Meaningful Maid of Honor Speeches

Giving maid of honor speeches can be scary and a little nerve wracking but there are ways to make it a bit easier. I suggest to anyone who has the job of giving a maid of honor speech is to sit and think about your relationship with the bride before you start writing anything.

Being the bride's sister or best friend, you might be asked to play the role of the maid of honor. In that case giving a speech would be one of your key duties. So, once you know your sister (or friend) is getting married soon enough you would anticipate that you might need to give a speech as the bride's sister long before you're even asked.

Most of the times there is a fairly long history between the bride and the maid of honor and maid of honor speeches should be written around it. Think about some of the funniest times you have shared. Also try to recall times that were sentimental or meaningful. Jot these ideas down and start putting them into paragraph form. Be sure to consider the audience as well. Some things, even though they might be very funny, wouldn't be considered appropriate to talk about in front of the bride's grandmother.

It's also nice idea to add something about the groom in your speech. If you feel nervous speaking in front of a crowd, just focus in on the bride and give the speech as if it's just the two of you in the room. Delivering the maid of honor speech is in fact an honor. Just relax and be thankful for the chance to say those special words to your friend on her big day.
